Peer Assisted Study Session Program

The PASS Program is an engaging student success service designed for historically challenging classes.

The Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) Program

Course Mentors and PASS Leaders offer academic enhancement group sessions for students taking historically challenging courses. This is the student success service for you if you want to improve your understanding of course material while improving your grade in a class.

Check your class Blackboard or Brightspace platform for announcements and messages from your leaders for updates, session information, and much more!

Attendance at sessions is voluntary. It’s a chance to get together with people in your class to compare notes, discuss important concepts, develop strategies for studying the subject, and test yourselves before your professors do so that when they do, you’ll be ready. They’re offered at least twice a week and last 50 minutes.

Who are the Course Mentors and PASS Leaders?

At each session, you will be guided through this material by your course mentor, an exceptional student who has previously taken the course. The faculty teaching the class and the Director of Student Learning Services selected the course mentors based on their ability to explain complex information engagingly.

When are sessions offered?

Course Mentors offer sessions at times that are best for most students enrolled in the course. You can attend one or all of them (the choice is yours), and each will be different because you’ll have new material to discuss. Review sessions are informal. Bring your notes; bring your textbook; bring your questions.

What's in it for me?

If you attend sessions regularly, you’ll earn a better grade. You’ll better understand course content and more effective studying methods. This will help you in other classes as well!
